After a second place result last weekend, American driver Juan Manuel Correa is ready to take on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria.
With the one and only practice session on track this morning, this afternoon was the home for the FIA Formula 2 qualifying session. Competing with Charouz Racing, the Sauber Junior Team driver qualified in the 13th position and will begin the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend tomorrow from inside row seven.
“Another very tough qualifying session. Very disappointed with this one because we had good pace with the first set of tires. We were looking to be very close to the top five if we just improved slightly on the second set, but unfortunately we could not improve at all,” explained Correa.
“It seems like we need to get on top of the tires more. It is a very complicated championship in that sense and I think we need to understand what’s happening because we always seem to get these discrepancies between the tire sets and different feeling in the car and different amount of grip levels. It is very hard to do a consistent job this way."
"Tomorrow we will start from P13 and we are looking to come come back strong, just as we have in the past few weekends and hopefully we will be fighting for the top eight.”
The first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend will take place tomorrow, Saturday June 29th at 16:45 (GMT+2) or 10:45am (GMT-4) on the east coast of the United States.
Race two will get underway at 11:00 (GMT +2) or 6:00am (GMT-4) in the United States.
